Scam With Your Friends: achievements, cloud saves and resetting progress

A player asked why achievements were not popping. Update 0.1.83 adds 26 Steam achievements, Steam Cloud saves and a confirmed RESET SAVE action — and what it does not promise.

Answer: Update 0.1.83 added 26 Steam achievements, Steam Cloud saves for progress and purchases, and a confirmed RESET SAVE action. Achievement counters persist between sessions and stay queued when Steam cannot confirm them immediately, so a missing pop-up does not by itself mean the achievement was not earned.

What a player asked

A Steam thread asks why the newly visible achievements never popped. The poster writes that they "see we have achievements now" and "tried playing through a shift but nothing popped", and the thread carries no developer reply. It states no build number, no date and no specific achievement, so it cannot show that the same behaviour still happens today.

What the developer published

Update 0.1.83, published 21 October 2026, lists the achievement and save work directly:

  • 26 Steam achievements covering scams, progression, office antics and other milestones.
  • Achievement counters persist between sessions, and earned achievements remain queued if Steam cannot confirm them immediately.
  • Steam Cloud saves for progress, cosmetics, prestige, checkpoints and permanent app purchases.
  • A new save system with backups and safer writes. Existing v82 settings, purchases and checkpoints are imported automatically.
  • A confirmed RESET SAVE action in settings. It erases progress, cosmetics and permanent app purchases, then returns you to the main menu while keeping device settings.
  • Graphics, microphone, language, controls, volumes and personal API keys remain local to each computer.

How that reads against the question

Two published details bear directly on "nothing popped": counters persist between sessions, and an earned achievement can sit queued until Steam confirms it. A missing pop-up during one shift is therefore not established by these notes as a lost achievement. The notes publish no unlock condition for any of the 26 achievements, so they cannot be used to say which one a shift should trigger.

What this does not settle

The update does not publish the names of the 26 achievements, does not say which of them a single shift should trigger, and does not say how long a queued achievement waits. The reset action is destructive by design: it erases progress, cosmetics and permanent app purchases and keeps only device settings, so it is not a way to recover a broken save.
