What the Steam Hotfix 2 news post lists

Mild location spoilers. The Silver Pines Hotfix 2 Steam news post currently displays 16 October. Compare your blocked scene with the example cases in the developer announcement:

CaseReported symptom
ObjectsCannot interact again after an opening action is interrupted
Sheriff DepartmentEncounter fails to advance
RiversideCertain areas trap a character arriving without a flashlight
LaddersTaking a hit while entering or leaving leaves the character stuck
Clinic basementCat Collar appears at the wrong time

These are five example cases drawn from the developer post — they are not the entire patch list. The post groups further balance and photo-cap changes below. These are developer-reported repairs, not fixes independently reproduced here. A similar symptom alone does not identify the cause in your save.

Balance and photo cap changes

The same Steam patch increases the photo limit from 30 to 100, adjusts the early Nightmare difficulty and raises broken-boxcutter damage by 50%. These changes do not establish a new optimal weapon or difficulty recommendation.

What to do if a scene still feels stuck

As a troubleshooting checklist, confirm your Steam copy has obtained the current update and retry the affected situation. Record your displayed version, platform, location and triggering action if it persists. For unresolved symptoms, you can describe the issue in the game's Steam Discussions; this site does not submit reports for you. Avoid deleting a save as a diagnostic step. The patch does not promise recovery for every older save or simultaneous console and Epic updates.

Two separate, unresolved community reports

The five Hotfix 2 example cases above are not a complete list of what is currently broken in Silver Pines. Two distinct community threads re-read on 18 October 2026 contain no confirmed resolution in the replies reviewed on 18 October; these cases are not identified as repaired in the named Hotfix 2 list:

  • Church bridge — missing Yes/No prompt. The thread reports that the expected Yes/No choice does not appear on the church bridge; pressing X / next is the player's self-reported way to keep moving past the gap. The developer reply on the thread says only that the report has been added to the fix list. This guide does not claim the missing prompt has been repaired, does not present X / next as a universal workaround across machines or patches, and does not copy any support reply verbatim into the answer.
  • Friendly Paw basement — glowing but non-interactable cage. The thread reports a cage in the Friendly Paw basement that glows but does not respond to interaction. The player states they had already spoken to the NPC in both places without success. Support suggested progressing the relevant NPC dialogue and returning; the player did not confirm that resolved it. This guide does not publish a password for the cage, does not name an NPC identity or location as a confirmed cause, does not mix this cage up with the Clinic basement Cat Collar case (which is a separate, named Hotfix 2 case), and does not claim that pushing the NPC dialogue is a verified fix on this site.

These are two separate reports, not a single combined bug. Hotfix 2's named Cat Collar timing fix is a distinct case from the Friendly Paw basement cage. No password, NPC identity, or universal dialogue order is published here.

Performance problems

For the separately documented Hotfix 1 renderer option, use the DirectX 11 performance guide. Hotfix 2 is not a replacement for that advice, and neither announcement provides an independent frame-rate comparison.
