Tenebris Somnia: running at half speed, random pixels on screen, and the TV puzzle bug

What the developer asked for when the game ran at half speed, the display setting players report fixing it, and the two launch bugs that have no developer reply yet.

ReleasedPC

Answer: The developer first question was your specs, because the store minimum is only a 2.4GHz dual core with 4 GB of VRAM. The fix players report is in the display driver, not the game: turn off AMD FreeSync and set Vertical Refresh to always off in Adrenaline, or disable vsync on NVIDIA. The random-pixel screen and the TV puzzle bug have no developer reply yet.

What the developer asked for first

The thread is titled Game barely running for anyone else??? and the opening post says the game "is booting extremely slow even the logo screens and menu are running at like 10 frames a second and the game is even worse. It's like it's running at half speed", and that the poster's PC "should more than be able to handle it".

The developer account replied with one question: "That's odd the game runs on even low end hardware - post specs?". The poster then posted a 9070 XT, an Intel Core i5-12600kf and 16GB of RAM, and added that everything else on the machine was running normally.

The display setting players report fixing it

The fix that worked is in the graphics driver, not in the game. One reply says simply: "Try to disable vsync on nvidia control panel/amd adrenaline". The poster with the 9070 XT confirmed it and named the exact settings: "Turning off AMD Freesync and setting Vertical Refresh to always off on AMD Adrenaline fixed it!!!!", with an earlier "THIS WORKED THANK YOU <3" on the one-line version.

That is a player report, confirmed by the player who found it. The developers did not publish it, so this site does not present it as the publisher's instruction, and this site has not tested it on any machine.

The random-pixel screen

A separate launch-day thread is titled Visual bug, the screen is filled with random pixels, and it says: "Bug that wont come off, i restarted the game and everything, and I havent seen anyone with it". That thread had no replies when it was re-read on 22 October 2026, so there is nothing to confirm or rule out yet.

The TV puzzle bug, and the one a new game fixed

Another thread is about a puzzle, not the renderer. The TV remote puzzle is supposed to show a series of symbols, but the poster "am on my first run on this game and I stumbled upon a bug that won't let me solve the tv puzzle. The tv is supposed to show me all symbols in order but instead I'm shown only 4 and 2 of them are repeated which made it impossible for me to solve it", and notes that the possible orders number 720. The official guide's TV Remote Puzzle section is the randomised-symbol puzzle being described, and it says the order of the symbols in your game may differ from the video.

The poster resolved it by starting again: "Nevermind I just started a new game and the puzzle works fine now. So if anyone runs into this problem just start a new file and you are good to go." A second player then reported the same thing, on a stream, with only two symbols appearing. That is two player accounts and no developer reply.

What the store asks for

The published configuration is light, which is why the developer's answer is that it should run anywhere. Minimum: a 64-bit Windows 10 or later machine, a 2.4GHz dual core processor or higher, 8 GB of RAM, 4 GB of VRAM or greater, DirectX 11, and 13 GB of storage. Recommended: Windows 11 64-bit, a 3.6GHz quad core processor or higher, 16 GB of RAM, 8 GB of VRAM or greater, with the same DirectX 11 and 13 GB figures. There is no frame-rate target in either tier, and the Steam Deck verification the launch post mentions is a compatibility statement rather than a performance promise.

What this page does not claim

No fix, no patched build, no frame-rate promise and no requirement check is claimed here beyond the display-driver change two players report working. The random-pixel screen and the TV puzzle bug have no developer answer yet, and this site does not say they are fixed, that they affect every machine, or that they affect none. This site has not played the build.
