Invokyr player count, solo vs co-op, single-use dice and the Custom mode added in V0.44.12

Invokyr supports solo or 1–6 online. Unlock Custom after the Game Master board, pull the collection-room lever, and check Steam-default networking before trying optional EOS.

Answer: Solo or 1–6 online; the published core loop uses single-use dice. Custom unlocks after the Game Master board: pull the collection-room lever and choose unlocked content. Custom has no death penalty and no win reward. Steam networking is default; EOS is recommended only for Steam connectivity issues.

1–6 players and the published modes

The EA panel for Invokyr lists a 1–6 player range, with single-player and online co-op both named as supported modes on the page consulted on 14 October 2026. That store panel does not provide a full lobby/join procedure or matchmaking region. The later save notes below supply only the named host save-selection details.

Why the dice are single-use

The same EA description is explicit about the dice economy: every die found during the haunted-house search is used only once. After a die has been rolled at the cursed board game, that specific die cannot be rolled again, and that single-use rule is presented on the page as part of the published design rather than as an inferred mechanic. The outcomes of those rolls, per the same panel, are summoning horrors, traps and curses, with the player's goal being to keep pushing toward the board's end.

Special dice, progression and the one-year EA plan

The EA panel also names special dice that can heal, hide or hinder while carrying their own risks, and a shop, upgrades and progression between different boards. The Steam page describes a planned one-year Early Access window; that window is named as a plan rather than as a fixed 1.0 release date. Exact dice counts, exact risk wording and the post-EA delivery list are not part of this read and are left out of this answer.

Custom Mode added in V0.44.12 (announcement checked 18 October 2026)

The V0.44.12 note, consulted on 18 October 2026, names a new Custom Mode. The Steam Community page consulted for it displays only a relative timestamp of 1:02am; that relative timestamp does not establish a calendar publish date, so the body refers to the note as the "V0.44.12 note checked 18 October 2026" rather than as a dated patch.

The Custom Mode published in that note follows a fixed sequence:

  1. Defeat the Game Master board first.
  2. In the collection room, pull the lever that enables Custom.
  3. From what has already been unlocked, customise the board, the house rules and the monster figurines.

The same note states the rewards-and-penalties rule for Custom: there is no death penalty and no win reward. Whether the player wins or loses the customised board, the result returns the player safely to the last round.

This page does not claim that dice become reusable inside Custom, and does not establish whether client progress or cross-mode progress carries over unchanged between Custom and the standard boards.

Multiplayer check from V0.44.11 (Steam networking default, EOS optional)

The V0.44.11 note, read on the same announcement feed as V0.44.12, states that Steam networking is the default and that an Epic Online Services (EOS) option is only recommended when Steam has connection problems. The body does not name a settings menu path, does not establish account-registration or linking requirements, and does not guarantee the EOS option resolves the connection issue.

Saves, New Save and checkpoints (V0.44.8 note and developer FAQ read 19 October 2026)

Invokyr is set up from the host side: the host opens the save selection, and a New Save option is offered there even when no earlier save exists. From the pause menu, a line showing how long it has been since the last save appears once the first checkpoint has been reached; before that first checkpoint the pause menu does not show that line. The V0.44.8 note also describes a larger, longer-lived Game Saved notification. This is an on-screen check, not independent verification of a durable save file; its absence at a given moment is not treated here as evidence that a save was lost.

Two checkpoint statements come from two different sources and are kept apart on this page. The V0.44.8 note says the time-since-last-save line shows up after the first checkpoint, and it does not say which board that first checkpoint belongs to. The developer FAQ answer, read on 19 October 2026, describes the standard-run rule instead: the game saves after each board, dying in the middle of a board deletes that save, and beating the Master Board leaves a safe checkpoint. The two texts do not establish that these refer to the same event, so this page does not merge them.

The same FAQ answer says the shop clock is a way of dealing with game over. It does not give a price for the clock, does not say how many times it can be used, and does not say whether it applies to the whole party or to a single player, so none of that is stated here. None of these sources promises that the game can be exited safely at any moment, that a save can be restored by hand, or that progress is kept without loss.

Custom remains separate: the win-or-lose return to the last round described above is part of the Custom Mode note only, and is not extended here to the standard boards.

Source-confirmed limits for this update

For this update the Steam US-English EA page and EA feature panel were consulted on 14 October 2026, and the V0.44.12 and V0.44.11 announcement entries on the Steam Community feed were consulted on 18 October 2026. On 19 October 2026 the same announcement feed was read again for the V0.44.8 save-selection note, and the developer FAQ thread was read for the standard save, checkpoint and shop-clock answers. These sources do not establish a full host-menu walkthrough, exact monster or event totals, dice reuse inside Custom, the clock's price or use count, any manual save or restore control, safe exit at any moment or lossless progress; those are not claimed here.
