ReleasedPC

Two 50-player forces fight across six maps, using 17 roles divided between infantry, recon, armour, helicopter, mortar and command units. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam modes, roles and faction tools

Warfare versus Offensive

Warfare is a tug-of-war contest for five sectors. Offensive assigns one force to attack and the other to defend. Both are described as 50 versus 50; alternative modes may change the parameters. Do not assume every server uses the same rules.

Choosing a unit

The official description divides 17 roles into six units. Command contains the Commander. Infantry contains Squad Leader, Rifleman, Grenadier, Engineer, Medic, Specialist and Machine Gunner. Recon has Spotter and Sniper; armour has Tank Commander and Crewman. The US helicopter unit lists Logistics Officer and Pilot. Mortars use Observer, Support and Gunner.

These categories help a group understand where its role belongs, not which role wins a match. The listing does not establish optimal loadouts, respawn timings or a tested beginner progression.

Command, transport and battlefield modes

The official description sets US forces against the North Vietnamese Army in 50-versus-50 battles. Players choose from seventeen roles and work in infantry, recon, armor, mortar and helicopter units across six advertised large maps.

US helicopters provide fire support and supplies; NVA tunnel networks enable movement and surprise attacks. Patrol boats operate on rivers. Warfare contests five sectors, while Offensive divides attackers and defenders. Swimming, climbing, crawling and dragging wounded allies are published movement features, not a tested tactical route.

Standard vs Deluxe, crossplay scope and upscaling targets

Standard vs Deluxe

Standard US lists at $39.99; Deluxe at $59.99. The Deluxe edition includes the base game, the Field Supply NVA Boat Crew Uniform and 2026 Field Supplies. Do not describe any extra campaign inside either edition — the Deluxe extras are cosmetics or supplies, not a separate story mode.

Cross-Platform Multiplayer badge without a specific pair

Online PvP and Cross-Platform Multiplayer are listed as badges, and Easy Anti-Cheat runs at the kernel level with a manual removal warning. The specific crossplay pairing (for example PC↔console) is not in this read — treat the badge as a category claim, not a confirmed PC↔PS5 or PC↔Xbox connection.

Upscaling targets, not native guarantees

The minimum tier pairs 1080p/60 with TSR 71% and DLSS Ultra Performance; the recommended tier pairs 1080p/60 with TSR 100% on High and DLSS Balanced. Those targets rely on upscaling — they are not a guarantee of native-resolution frame rates.

Patch 1.6 changes versus 1.7 plans

Is Hell Let Loose: Vietnam on Patch 1.7 yet?

As of 21 October 2026 the newest published patch is still Patch 1.6, which went live on 7 October 2026 with a major audio overhaul, unit composition changes, a rework of Engineer buildables and Admin Camera improvements. The developer's 15 October "Community Feedback #8" post says "With Patch 1.7 arriving next week", so 1.7 was announced as a plan and, at the time of this read, no Patch 1.7 notes have been published. Treat 1.7 as announced, not released. The listed US price is $39.99, the platform flags mark Windows only, and the listing names 12 interface languages with English marked for full audio.

What Hell Let Loose: Vietnam players are asking

These are real questions players asked in the game's own Steam discussions, re-checked against the thread on 21 October 2026. The thread link for each one is in this section's sources. Where the developer has published an answer it is linked; where they have not, the question is left open rather than guessed at.

  • *"Increase the maximum number of players on servers please.
  • Or make it a option settings for servers?"* — asked in the Steam thread 120 Player server please.*; intent: server-population-and-player-count.

  • "Using right mouse button to move forward turns into aim and move. Can not run." — asked in the Steam thread FIX THE GD FKING KEY BINDINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*; intent: controls-keybinding-conflict. Partly answered: rebinding history and the still-open right-mouse issue — see keybinds and controller customisation.
  • "I crash almost every single time in a tank." — asked in the Steam thread AMD crashes unacceptable.*; intent: stability-amd-crash-launch-options. The developer escalated the crash and published launch options — see the crash and launch-options page.
  • "Said no to EPIC sign in, am now caught in a loop of this. Why give the choice if the second option doesn't work and makes the game unplayable." — asked in the Steam thread "failed to load user data please try again"*; intent: account-linking-launch-error. The developer published a local reset — see the "failed to load user data" page.
  • "Turn DLSS off, then back on, and your dLSS setting will re-appear, and your frames. I have to do it every time I boot the game up." — asked in the Steam thread DLSS Help!*; intent: graphics-upscaler-settings.
  • "In one match today only squad leaders were able to see their own Outposts. The teammates could not see them, or spawn in them." — asked in the Steam thread Outpost bug*; intent: spawn-replication-outposts.
  • "When I start the game it shows that 2026 Field Supplies content is available for purchase but I already own that bundle (and the helicopter DLC) an..." — asked in the Steam thread DLC available for purchase in-game if owned?*; intent: dlc-purchase-prompt-and-ownership.
  • "I only see 800 active players right now, was considering getting it ;(" — asked in the Steam thread Is this game dead?*; intent: player-count-and-longevity.
  • "I’d enjoy it much more with several teams including NLF, ARVN, etc and more weapons, it should have been released as Early Access." — asked in the Steam thread Why is this becoming less popular than the original?*; intent: crossplay-and-console-aim-assist.
  • "isn't LPO-50 Function different from US M2 that use compressed air but LPO-50 uses pyrotechnic cartridge propulsion that have 3 tank for 3-Burst Limit" — asked in the Steam thread LPO-50 Function ?*; intent: weapon-mechanics.

We could not read a search-volume source for any of these, so this list shows that the questions were really asked, not how many people search them.

Answers before the deep dive

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam tank and AMD GPU crashes: launch options that help

Team17 says tank crashes are escalated and asks players to add "-dx12 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system" to the Steam launch options. The -malloc=system flag switches the Unreal Engine 5 allocator to the Windows system heap. It is a workaround, not a confirmed fix.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam "failed to load user data" loop: the reset steps

Close the game and Steam completely, open %localappdata%, delete or rename the HLL Vietnam "Saved" folder (or at least the config/save files inside it), then launch the game from Steam again. This clears local user data, so treat it as a reset that can cost unsaved progress.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam keybinds and controller customisation

Keys can be reassigned since Patch 1.3, bindings only save when you press Apply since Patch 1.4, and mouse-input remapping was improved in 1.4. As of Community Feedback #8 on 15 October 2026 the status is still "Under Investigation", and the right-mouse-button report has been passed to the team.
