The short version

Rot and Ruin is the largest content addition Grounded 2 has had, published on 21 October 2026 in Asia/Shanghai (20 October in UTC). If you are coming back to Brookhollow Park after the launch build, this is the update that changes what you are walking into.

The Woodpile and the Termites

The Woodpile is a new area to explore, and Termites are back in it. The publisher lists Workers, Soldiers, the Termite Queen and an O.G.R.R. King among the family, along with new O.G.R.R. variants. The official wording is that these are not the Termites you remember: expect new attacks and unfamiliar behaviour the deeper you go.

The Centipede

The Centipede is the new boss, and the official post frames it as the creature the community had been asking for. The 0.6.0 feature list also names a Centipede mutation, a trinket, Centipede furniture (Cauldron, Candle, Apothecary), a stuffed and wall-mount version, a Centipede Staff weapon and a Centipede armour set.

The Potato Beetle Buggy

The Potato Beetle is a new Buggy and it is bigger than the Ladybug Buggy. The official description gives it a shotgun-like turret for close range, a spread of projectiles against creatures in front of it, a charge projectile that can hit a whole horde in one shot, and a Healing Roar to keep you in the fight. It can also haul resources and contribute materials to blueprints while you are out building.

Painting and the Splotcher

Painting is a new way to personalise a base. You craft paint and apply it with a new paintball gun called the Splotcher, and walls, floors, roofs, stairs, doors and other structures can all take a new colour.

Bismuth and the Yoking Press

Weapons and armour can now reach higher Tiers. The new Bismuth resource is gathered and refined, and the new Yoking Press uses it to upgrade your equipment. The Abyss changes alongside it: bismuth is added, there are new diggable chests, geysers now emit a warming volume, and navigation is improved.

Collectibles and craftables

New SCA.B themes, collectible miniatures and new stations are spread across Brookhollow Park. The 0.6.0 list names 8 SCA.B colour schemes to collect and 5 figurines that can be built as statues in your base, and new craftables including Termite Delight and Perfect Dodge, where the player takes no damage and stamina is not consumed so they can counter-attack immediately. Mutation loadouts can now be quick-swapped.

The one caveat worth reading

Rot and Ruin went out through a public test build first. The 7 October 2026 note on build 0.6.0 in Asia/Shanghai (6 October in UTC) says the update is in the development phase, warns that "there is always a risk when testing out new features", and that "any progress you make on the test server may or may not carry over". So expect the feature set to be what the public build ships, while the build itself is still being worked on. This page reports the publisher's own wording; we did not play the update.

Where to start

If you want the fastest route into the new content, the Woodpile is the new area to explore, the Centipede is the fight to prepare for, and the Potato Beetle Buggy is the transport and close-range option. For the Early Access state and the rest of the zone, see the hub.
