From fabric choice to a finished garment
Picking the material
The Steam store describes Dressmaker as letting players choose between cotton, linen, wool, silk and velvet before a garment takes its shape. The fabric choice is the first published step; the page does not name every cloth weight, drape or stat tied to it.
Sketching colour and sample
A sketchbook is part of the core loop for designing colour palettes and small samples. The same store copy frames it as a planning step that precedes the cut.
Layout, sewing machine and decoration
Once a design is ready, the workflow moves through layout and arranging pattern pieces, then through sewing-machine work that joins the pieces. Decoration stages add buttons, bows, appliques and lace. The Steam page read on 14 October 2026 does not list every stitching mini-game or stitch accuracy meter; the controls the October patch notes do name are in the last section of this hub.
Two endings for a finished garment
The store copy names two outlets for a finished piece. Players can deliver it to a client, which the page ties to reputation and coins, or they can put it on the storefront to sell directly. Specific client preferences, exact reputation thresholds and per-item prices are not part of the source text read on 14 October 2026; we do not invent them.
Where the workflow guide lives
The workflow guide, including the trim, camera, cutting and off-rack controls from the October patch notes, is on Making and Selling Dresses.
Single-player, progression and storefront loop
Listed play and platform features
The current Steam listing shows single-player, Achievements and Steam Cloud as published features. Family Sharing is also listed. These badges do not establish a multiplayer or crossplay mode.
Reputation, coins and the boutique window
The store copy ties client deliveries to reputation and to coins, and identifies a separate storefront window where garments made by the player can be sold. These two tracks are the published progression layers; no ranked tier table or client wish-list is invented here.
Sketchbook and design preview
The same page describes the sketchbook as a place to design colour palettes and small samples ahead of cutting fabric. The dress form preview is named as a step in the core workflow. Camera input published in the October "Build443" notes is summarised in the last section of this hub; undo depth and detailed UI screens are still not described by any source read here.
Release date, platforms and what the source does not promise
Steam full release date
The Steam listing dates the Dressmaker full release to 21 September 2026. The page consulted on 14 October 2026 is the published US-English store entry, which is not itself a patch log. The official October "Build443" announcement was read separately on 19 October 2026 and is summarised in the last section of this hub; that announcement displays 14 Oct and does not confirm which build any particular machine has installed.
PC scope only
This article stores the game as a PC (Steam Windows) entry. The studio's broader platform history is not part of this record, and a Mac configuration was not read on this date; the page does not extend into untested platform targets.
Source-confirmed limits
The Steam page consulted here describes the loop, fabric list, sketchbook, decoration stages, client-delivery and storefront-sell outcomes, and the single-player, Achievements and Cloud features. It does not name every client request, every decoration, the exact reputation curve or a tested playtime. Those are the store page's limits rather than a claim about the October announcement, which adds the controls listed below and does not restate or change the store badges or the Windows minimum configuration.
Minimum Windows configuration and source range
Publisher-listed minimum tier
The Steam Windows requirements panel, read on 14 October 2026, lists the following published minimum configuration. These are developer-published tiers, not measured performance on this site.
| Item | Published minimum |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 or later |
| Processor | Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen (no model specified on the page read) |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Intel UHD Graphics 630 or better |
| DirectX | Version 11 |
| Storage | 2 GB available space |
No recommended tier claimed here
This page reproduces the Windows minimum section read on this date; no separate recommended tier is reproduced here. This article stores the minimum tier as published and does not duplicate the minimum row into a recommended row, nor invent an upgrade target.
Source range
Only the Steam US-English store and its Windows requirements panel were consulted on 14 October 2026 for this table. No patch note had been read for this section on that date. The October "Build443" announcement, read on 19 October 2026, does not restate any of these values, so the table above keeps its 14 October 2026 source and date and is not presented as re-verified on 19 October 2026.
What the October Build443 notes changed in daily play
Use the existing making-and-selling guide for these announced changes:
- Trim selection and duplication: select an end node, click it again to extend; duplication preserves height, size and tilt.
- Mannequin camera: Ctrl+mousewheel zooms smoothly; right-drag pans.
- Cutting actions: distinguish explicit cloth discard from collecting cut panels.
- Selling or delivering: photo-scene Sell as off-rack, client delivery and sketchbook deletion serve different tasks.
- Older designs: small-component scoring and corrected trim tilt can affect earlier work.
These are developer-published changes, not a test of your save. Full rebinding and controller support remain development priorities in the notes; no exact commission recipe, pricing formula or complete Steam Deck layout is supplied here.

Answers before the deep dive
Dressmaker: Making and Selling Dresses
Choose fabric, plan in the sketchbook, cut, preview, sew and decorate. In Build 443, select a trim end node and click it again to extend; duplication preserves height, size and tilt. Use Ctrl+mousewheel for mannequin zoom and right-drag to pan. Keep client delivery, Sell as off-rack and sketchbook deletion separate.
