Answer: Apex Legends is free to play with optional in-game purchases. The store describes Legend abilities, tactical squads and Battle Royale, not a current-season tier list.

What free to play includes
The official listing identifies the base game as free to play and discloses optional virtual-currency purchases and virtual items, including random selections. Free entry does not mean every cosmetic or optional purchase is included. Regional purchase conditions must be checked in the relevant storefront.
How the game is described
Legends bring different abilities to tactical squad play. The official overview names Battle Royale and modes beyond it; Steam lists Online PvP and Online Co-op. Those labels do not prove a separate cooperative PvE campaign, a current playlist size or a ranked eligibility rule.

Before picking a Legend or weapon
Use the current in-game season and dated official patch information to check abilities, balance and playlist rules. This page has not playtested the current patch. It cannot justify a strongest-Legend ranking, best weapon loadout or exact matchmaking population.
Date and platform scope
5 November 2020 is the Steam listing's release date. It is not presented here as the first launch across every storefront or console. This hub's hardware evidence covers Windows only.

October Wildcard, queue-test and anti-cheat scope
The October 13 Blood Pact announcement puts faction challenges inside Wildcard: choose Beasts or Demons, then complete the round's challenge to earn that faction's Wild Card. This is event-specific, not a permanent Battle Royale ruleset. The October 9 matchmaking notice also describes a test for Plat+ across all platforms and regions, with rank-scaled extra queue time and approximately 30 seconds at Masters; the stated endpoint is season end or sufficient data, not a permanent queue-time promise.
For the separate PC anti-cheat change, see the hub’s account notes.
