The official listing identifies the base game as free to play and discloses optional virtual-currency purchases and virtual items, including random selections. Free entry does not mean every cosmetic or optional purchase is included. Regional purchase conditions must be checked in the relevant storefront.
How the game is described
Legends bring different abilities to tactical squad play. The official overview names Battle Royale and modes beyond it; Steam lists Online PvP and Online Co-op. Those labels do not prove a separate cooperative PvE campaign, a current playlist size or a ranked eligibility rule.
Legend abilities and the squad
Each Legend has distinct abilities, and the official description emphasizes using them within a tactical squad. Battle Royale is one part of the advertised experience, alongside other modes. The store does not establish today’s ranked eligibility, map rotation or character balance.
The free base game includes optional currency and cosmetic purchases, including randomized items. The publisher also discloses regional purchase conditions. Check the live shop before spending; this reference does not calculate rewards or rank characters.

Account, anti-cheat and supported languages
Free-to-play with a required EA account
The base game is free to play, with in-app purchases. An EA account is required, and linking it to Steam is supported. The Steam snapshot read on 11 October displayed an Easy Anti-Cheat notice. The PC anti-cheat team’s 8 October report instead says Apex transitioned to EA Javelin Anticheat. Retain the store notice as historical, not current removal instructions. No uninstall procedure was tested.
Online modes only
The category badges show Online PvP and Online Co-op. This is the published scope of online play. It is not a guarantee of a separate cooperative PvE campaign, a current season's map rotation or a ranked eligibility rule.
Languages with full audio in this read
The visible language rows show English, French, Italian, German and Spanish each ticked for full audio and interface. Subtitles were not part of the checked cells in these rows; do not treat unticked subtitle rows as a global no-subtitles statement.

Re-read 21 October 2026: Apex Legends is free to play, the platform flags mark Windows only, and the listing names 14 interface languages with 10 of them marked for full audio. The newest official post, dated 20 October 2026, is not a content update but a hardware note: AMD has rolled out a new mainline driver update that resolves crashes for players on 9070-series GPUs, and the post asks players to make sure they are on the latest version. The US-facing Steam release field reads 4 November 2020; this site publishes the Asia/Shanghai launch day, 5 November 2020.
