We Were Here Tomorrow: how to find a co-op partner, and what about friends passes
The publisher's answer for finding a second player in We Were Here Tomorrow, what the FAQ does not promise about friends passes, and the player-side fix reported for lobbies that will not connect.
Answer: The developer's pinned FAQ says to create a public lobby and wait, or use the Steam forums or their Discord. The FAQ mentions no friends pass, and the launch-day thread about it has only player replies. For lobbies that will not connect, two players report that changing the server region in the game settings and re-joining from inside the game fixed it.
What the developer actually says
The pinned FAQ on the game's own Steam page answers the question directly. It is a post by the studio account ChaeriCake, first written in April 2026 and last edited on launch day, so it is the publisher's own text and not a player summary. How do I find someone to play with? You can create a public lobby in-game and wait for someone to join, or use the Steam forums or their Discord server to find another player. That is the whole of the official answer, and it is enough to start a session: the game is two-player, so a second player is a hard requirement rather than a convenience.
The same FAQ is where the publisher says to go for help. Their support page, support.totalmayhemgames.com, carries a known-issues list that is mirrored in their Discord, and the developer says the team is aware of those issues and they will be patched very soon. If a lobby misbehaves, that list is where a confirmed fix would be recorded.
What about a friends pass
One launch-day thread asks straight out whether this one has a friends pass, and adds that it would be easier to convince people to play this way. It does have replies, but they are all players: one answers that there is no friends pass, the original poster says they will wait for a big enough sale, and another suggests buying two copies or gifting one. No studio account answers in that thread, and neither the store page nor the pinned FAQ mentions a friends pass anywhere.
So the honest position is that the publisher has published no friends-pass offer for this title. One player states there is none, this site does not claim that as a publisher fact, and it does not claim there is one either.
When the lobby will not connect
Two separate launch-day threads report the same thing from the other side of the pairing. One, in Russian, says the two of them cannot connect to each other and the lobby keeps dropping. The other says the lobby appears to be created, but they cannot connect to it, and cannot connect to lobbies made by random people from the search either.
The first thread did draw replies, and two of them report a way round it that has nothing to do with the store. One player says they solved it by changing the server region in the game's own settings to Turkey, and another says they solved it by changing the region from Auto to Europe; both also had to rejoin from inside the game, so both people have to do it. That is a player report, not a publisher instruction, and this site has not tested it. The second thread has no replies at all.
What can be said from the sources is narrow but real: the publisher names a public lobby as the intended way to meet a partner, names a known-issues list as the place where recognised problems are collected, has published nothing about a friends pass, and has not answered the lobby threads. That is the state of the record on 22 October 2026, two days after launch.
One more thing worth knowing before you look for a partner
The same FAQ is clear that these are not horror games. There are creepy elements in the locations, traps and puzzles, but the games are not meant to scare you throughout; it is all about working together and figuring out the co-op puzzles. The series FAQ also puts the length at roughly 10 to 15 hours per couple, so a partner is someone you will be playing with for a good while rather than one quick session. Both are the publisher's own words, and this site has not played the build.
What this page does not claim
No publisher fix, no friends pass and no patched build is claimed here. The server-region change is a player report this site has not tested, the friends-pass question has no publisher answer, and the developer has published the known-issues list as the place where confirmed fixes are recorded when they are ready.
