Moadra controls, rebinding, camera shake and demo device problems
What the developer has actually said about rebinding, the intended control scheme, the camera-shake setting, Steam Deck scaling and the Linux/Proton demo crashes.
Answer: Rebinding is not in the current demo but ships with the full release. The game is designed for controller or keyboard-and-mouse with target-locking. Camera shake has an on/off accessibility setting. On Steam Deck keep Scaling Mode on Auto. Some Linux players hit a "Fatal error!!" under Proton; that is a community report, not a developer fix.
The short answer
Four things players keep asking about have answers from the developer, and one does not. Rebinding is not available in the current Demo but is confirmed to ship with the full release. The game is built for a controller or for keyboard and mouse, with a target-locking system. Camera shake has an on/off accessibility setting. On Steam Deck the image only stretches if Scaling Mode has been changed away from its Auto default. The Linux/Proton crashes in the Demo have community workarounds but no developer-confirmed fix.
Which control scheme is intended
A player asked whether the aiming-heavy design means the game is meant for mouse and keyboard. The developer's answer: "Moadra is designed to work with either a controller or KB+mouse. The aiming with a controller works similarly to newer 2D Metroid games, and we also have a target-locking system that picks the closest enemies." Steam's own store category also lists full controller support. No default key bindings are published, so this page does not list one.
Rebinding, and the mouse-wheel blocker
A player was hard-blocked in the Demo by a scan step that needs a middle mouse wheel, and asked for jump and climb bindings to be movable. The developer replied: "Control rebinding will be included before the full release so you can eventually switch the controls to your liking." A separate thread states the same limit more directly: "Control rebinding is not available in the current demo, but it will be in the release (and in the demo once we update it)."
What that means for you: the middle-mouse-wheel blocker applies to the Demo build as it stands today. The rebinding answer is a statement about the upcoming release, not a description of a build you can already change.
Camera shake
A player asked whether the heavy camera shake seen in the trailers can be turned off in-game. The developer answered: "Yes, we have a setting in the accessibility options to turn camera shake on / off." Steam's own category list for the game also includes Adjustable Text Size, Camera Comfort and Playable without Timed Input.
Steam Deck scaling
A player reported the Demo stuck on a wide, stretched 720p image on Deck. The developer's reply asks which Scaling Mode is enabled and explains the cause: "The image should not have any stretching with 720p unless you have changed the default scaling mode (which is Auto) to Stretch/Fill." The fix is therefore a settings check, not a graphics upgrade.
Linux and Proton: community reports only
A thread titled "Anyone manage to get the demo running with proton?" contains a player reporting a "Fatal error!!" message under both regular Proton and Proton-GE, another player reporting the same failure on other Unreal Engine games and that an older Proton-GE did not help, and one player running "happily on Proton 9.0-4. No issue whatsoever." A separate player says the demo ran off Play after download on Deck without touching Proton at all.
These are player reports, not developer statements, and they disagree with each other. We have not reproduced them and cannot tell you which Proton build works. Treat this as a known failure mode for some Linux configurations rather than a solved problem.
What we could not confirm
The pinned demo-feedback thread is player feedback rather than a developer issue list, and we found no first-party statement confirming which gamepads are fully supported or which aspect ratios are supported. We are not guessing at either. See the Moadra zone for the release date, the separate Demo product, the published languages and platforms and the Windows requirements.
